Class Policies and Procedures
Class rules for Señora Schafer's Spanish class
The rules are pretty straightforward for my class.
1. I have to admit, that one of my biggest pet peeves is when students come to class tardy. Please be on time! Once you have been tardy 3 times I begin issuing detention.
2. I do ask you to use your phones to look up information occasionally. Please do not abuse this privilege. Phones should be for educational purposes only.
3. Being responsible for your learning means that YOU take charge for what and how you learn. If you are struggling, come talk to me. If you are absent, check this website AND the "Gente Ausente" binder upon your return to class for what you missed.
4. Treat others the way that you would want to be treated. The Golden Rule.
5. I don't mind if you eat food in class as long as you are responsible for cleaning up
after yourself. If this becomes a problem the privilege to eat will be revoked.

2015-16 Syllabus
Daily Procedures (Sample)
Esponja (Sponge): Each day we begin with a warm up called an Esponja or in English a "sponge". The esponja is typically 5 questions that pertain to whatever unit we are studying. The purpose of the warm up is to get the students focused and it serves as a reminder of what we have been studying. It's also an informative assessment for me to check student understanding.
Palabra del día (Word of the day): Each day we learn a new Spanish word. After we have been given the word, students complete a small activity with the word. Once we have 10 words there will be a spelling and definition test on the list of 10 words. Click here for more information.
Flashitas (Flashcards): Each day we take about 5 minutes or so to study our current vocabulary. For each new vocabulary list we get we will make flashcards for them.
Tarea (Homework): If we have a homework assignment due then we will go over it before we turn it in for a grade. I always give you the opportunity to ask questions or get help before submitting a homework assignment.
After the homework submission, each day will look different. But you can expect to do these 4 things everyday.
